Wedding Guest Book - Mixed Media

I've been so busy this week making Christmas Cards and other projects too. This Wedding Guest Book is for my nephew's Wedding next Sunday. It's really been a meeting of minds, Faiths and cultures as my nephew is English and a Christian, his fiancee is Indian and Sikh. The Wedding will take place at the Temple in the morning, with a big party afterwards.

They asked me to make them a Guest Book and here it is.

It started off being made from natural hand made paper with leaves impressed into the paper but as the colours for the Wedding are traditional red and gold I decided to bling it up a bit.

I cut 2 pieces of thick card in the heart shape and 4 pieces of the handmade paper adding 1/2" all round. I glued the 2 sandwiches adding some layers of tissue to the outside of each cover to bulk it out a bit. I stitched around both covers and added some extra stitching in places. I was going to stop there but it looked a bit boring!! I started spraying with 2 bottles of mica spray in red and yellow to add some pep to it. I finished with a gold mica to add accents.
I used my hole punch and book rings with ribbons and hearts to finish. I've edged all the inner pages with gold and added pockets inside the book for a Guest list and any other souvenirs.

  1. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Jeanie, have been super busy over the Christmas period so now I am trying to play catch up. This piece looks gorgeous, love the colours, how it shimmers and they way you've pulled the pieces together with the metal. I am sure they would have loved it.

Thankyou so much for your time reading my blog post. Your comments are always welcomed and very much appreciated.
